June 11, 2018Fairwinds residential community, built around Fairwinds Golf Club in Nanoose Bay, is often praised for not only its beautiful setting near the ocean, but for how well this planned community has taken shape and flourished.
Now, with many more people looking to move to beautiful Vancouver Island, Fairwinds is going through some renewal and expansion with the help of the land development consultants at J.E. Anderson & Associates. J.E. Anderson’s Nanaimo team has provided the legal surveying for three key projects currently underway at Fairwinds.
The first project is Fairwinds Landing, planned as the new community hub for Nanoose Bay with a 40,000 sq. ft. waterfront building, which is set to house a country market and restaurant/pub, as well as residential units. This project involves the redevelopment of the old Schooner Cove hotel.
The second project is adjacent to Fairwinds Landing, referred to as The Westerly. It will feature 39 spacious condominium suites and gorgeous views of the Strait of Georgia and Fairwinds Marina, which has 350 boat slips.
The third project is Timber Ridge, a 35-unit townhouse development on more than 11 acres just off Bonnington Drive. These large, open-concept townhomes will be 1,500 to 1,800 sq. ft. and feature views of the Strait of Georgia and Fairwinds golf course.
J.E. Anderson Work with Fairwinds Goes Back 2 Decades
Due to J.E. Anderson’s experience working within Fairwinds over the last two decades and expertise helping developments requiring unique approvals, the team has been able to provide services in a timely manner. Surveys for Fairwinds Landing and The Westerly began in early 2017. These included a survey inside the old Schooner Cove hotel to assist redesigning the building, which has been stripped down to the steel frame. Preliminary strata plans for disclosure statements of the development have also been prepared.
There is a lot of excitement in the community as Fairwinds continues to grow.
I was raised in Nanoose Bay, only a few kilometres away from Fairwinds and currently reside in the area,” says Doug Holme, B.C. Land Surveyor and Partner at J.E. Anderson. “It is very rewarding to be involved in the development of a community I have known since Fairwinds originally started.
