Railyards Victoria – Phase 6 Completed

The sense of renewal and energy the Railyards project has brought to Victoria’s Songhees inner harbor area has inspired JEA engineers and the public alike.

It has been transformed from a worn out industrial area into “a vibrant, living, breathing thing,” says Senior Surveyor Mike Manson.

JEA can pat itself on the back for its successful involvement as this unique project winds down to its conclusion.

The company became involved in 2004 and has completed a variety of work including surveying, engineering, maintaining the project database and Strata titling. Phase 6 began in 2010 and has involved filling in, compacting and compressing ground for 15 units of residential town houses in three buildings.

The area has been undergoing a transformation from an abandoned industrial railyard into a waterfront community since 2001.”It’s one thing to complete Phase 6 – it’s even more exciting to see the project in totality come to its completion,” says Manson. “It’s a breath of fresh air,” he adds.
